Etisalat Nigeria says it is ready to play a leading role as host operator partner to the over 700 telecom experts, including leading industry regional operators and regulators, that have indicated their interests to attend this year’s NigeriaCom in Lagos. Since its inception in 2010, NigeriaCom has become the country’s leading annual event for telecoms, media and Technology. This year’s event is billed to hold on September 17 and 18, 2013, at the Oriental Hotel in Lagos. Director, Brands and Communication at Etisalat, Enitan Denloye, who announced the hosting plan, said: “As part of this year’s edition, the fourth in Lagos, Etisalat would champion the theme ‘Quality of Service on the Network: Challenges & Opportunities for Telecoms Operators in Nigeria.’ with a keynote panel debate.” The Minister of Communications Technology, Mrs. Omobola Johnson, the Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Dr. Eugene Juwah, and the Chief Technical Officer from Etisalat, will lead the open discussions on the first day of the event. NigeriaCom provides a platform for telecoms and Information and Communications Technology (ICT) players to deliberate on Nigeria’s digital revolution to innovative areas like cloud services, mobile money, digital entertainment, social media marketing as well as the ever-evolving network, connectivity, and customer experience management spheres.
According to the organisers, speakers have been chosen from leading telecoms operators, Internet Service Providers (ISPs), financial and legal entities, regulators, associations, application developers, content providers, analysts and solution providers. Denloye said the company remained committed to working together with other industry players on ways to improve the quality of service throughout the digital realm. “Together we will create sustainable strategies for transforming the telecommunications industry. Etisalat recognises its role in shining a spotlight on service improvement and expansion platforms in Nigeria. Nigeria is Africa’s largest telecoms market, and represents 15 per cent of the continent’s subscriptions in the first quarter of this year,” he said. According to him, the number of mobile subscriptions in Nigeria has grown by 21 per cent, and noted that though voice activations currently remained on the increase, and that the growth rate of the mobile data market has greatly improved. “Etisalat is a large part of that, through innovative and quality data provisions. So far, Etisalat has performed above average, amassing a subscriber base of over 15 million and will continue to satisfy customers’ needs in the area of innovation, quality of service and customer focus. We are proud to be one of the leaders at the NigeriaCom 2013,” Denloye added. Experts at the NigeriaCom 2013 will explore current investment in infrastructure and highlight the role of network operators in bringing about a new telecoms revolution in the form of data penetration and access. Over 19 countries and 220 companies are expected to attend this year’s NigeriaCom event.
